What inspired you to focus on education as a means to fight poverty?
—Growing up in Colombia, I witnessed firsthand the inequality and lack of opportunities for children. I realized that education was the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, and I wanted to make a difference in their lives.
How have the state-of-the-art schools you built in remote areas transformed communities?
—The schools we built not only provide access to education, but they also improve infrastructure in the community. Access to electricity, potable water, and paved roads have been made possible, lifting the overall living conditions in these areas.
What role does the government play in your education initiatives?
—We believe in collaborating with the government as a strategic partner. By showing them the results of our comprehensive education models, we make it nearly impossible for them to say no to their responsibility in ensuring quality education for all children.
What are some small interventions that have had a big impact on children's education?
—Simple interventions like school feeding programs and transportation services have proven to make a significant difference in children's attendance and academic performance. By removing barriers to education, we can give every child an equal opportunity to succeed.
What are your future goals for your education initiatives?
—Our goal is to reach even more children who are out of school or at risk of dropping out. We aim to build more schools, distribute school kits and uniforms, provide training for teachers, and ensure access to psycho-social support for students in need.
