What is the purpose of a high thrust engine?
—High thrust engines, like the 2012 9.9 Yamaha on my catamaran, have a different gear ratio and are designed for increased propulsion power. They are ideal for boats that require greater thrust and maneuverability.
How did you address the challenges with the cables and carburetor?
—After discovering that a grommet was missing from the casing, I temporarily fitted a DIY grommet to secure the cables in place. As for the carburetor issue, I drained the excess oil and ordered new spark plugs for proper functionality.
What are your future plans for the second engine?
—I plan on servicing the second engine, which includes changing the impeller and gear oil. This will ensure its optimal performance and reliability.
Why did you consider purchasing a second engine?
—The cost of a new engine with power tilt was significant, so I decided to explore other options. The 2012 9.9 Yamaha High Thrust engine I found offers similar functionality at a significantly lower price.
