—My dad would work long hours and still come home to take care of our yard. He was never afraid of hard work and instilled in me the value of work ethic by example.
How did your parents teach you about money management?
—My mom saved every penny and taught us to live within our means. We never had credit cards and Christmas was done on layaway. They showed us the importance of saving and not relying on credit.
How did growing up in a working-class family shape your mindset?
—Growing up with limited resources taught me to be resourceful and appreciate the value of hard work. It also fueled my ambition and drive to provide a better future for myself and my family.
How did your upbringing contribute to your entrepreneurial spirit?
—Living in a working-class neighborhood, I saw the value of being resourceful and finding opportunities to create income. This mindset inspired me to start ventures like a basketball camp and leasing out mobile homes.
How did your upbringing influence your passion for basketball and coaching?
—Basketball became much more than a game for me. It was a way to provide for my family and create opportunities. The values of hard work, teamwork, and dedication that I learned from my parents translated into my coaching philosophy.
