Q&A

Why did you sell your previous homestead after putting so much effort into it?

The people who bought our previous homestead did not want to continue homesteading, so we had to move and start fresh on a new property.

What were the challenges you faced during the transition to the new property?

The new property had no infrastructure or development, so we had to set up everything from scratch, including animal structures and fencing.

How did you deal with wildlife damaging your crops?

We added electric fencing around our garden to keep out dogs and raccoons, which had previously caused damage to our corn and potatoes.

Why did you separate the pigs from other animals?

We wanted to improve composting efficiency and give the pigs their own space, especially during birthing.

What was the most rewarding aspect of raising meat birds and turkeys?

Knowing where our food comes from, how it was treated, and the quality of life it had on our homestead.
