🔌There are three main charging types for electric vehicles: level 1, level 2, and DC fast charging.
💡Level 1 charging is the slowest, using 120 volt alternating current (AC) electricity. It is often used as a last resort or for plug-in hybrids.
⚡Level 2 charging operates at 240 volts and provides around 30 miles of range per hour. It is ideal for everyday use and requires installation of a charging station.
🚀DC fast charging can push out up to 350 kilowatts of power, allowing for rapid charging of EVs. However, it can degrade the battery and is more expensive.
🔌Common charging connectors used in North America include J plug, CCS, and CHAdeMO. Tesla vehicles have their own proprietary connector.
