Building Our Dream Barn: A Journey Towards Our Homestead Property

🏗️The construction of our Dream Barn involved careful planning and precise measurements to ensure everything was square and level.

🌧️Throughout the two-month construction period, we encountered various weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold, but persevered and completed the project.

💦Since we didn't have access to power or water on the property, we collected rainwater from the pond to make things easier.

🔨We improvised and built up the 12-foot posts to the required height of 16 feet, demonstrating our problem-solving skills.

🌞Despite concerns about the black exterior of the barn becoming too hot, we found that it actually keeps the interior about 20 degrees cooler than outside.

How long did it take to build the Dream Barn?

—The construction process took approximately two months, during which we worked through various weather conditions.

—One of the main challenges was not being able to get all the desired materials. We had to improvise and adapt to ensure the project's completion.

Did you encounter any problems with the levelness of the ground?

—Yes, the ground was initially unlevel, but we addressed this issue later on in the construction process.

Why did you choose a black exterior for the barn?

—Despite concerns about heat absorption, the black exterior actually helps keep the interior cooler compared to the outside temperature.

What are your future plans for the Homestead property?

—We have several plans, including building a grain bin tiny house, adding a slab, fencing, and moving all our animals to the property.
